Director of Finance and Operations


Job Title: Director of Finance
Status: Part-Time (15-20 hours)
Supervisor Title: Executive Pastor

Job Summary:
This role serves the overall mission and vision of the church by providing excellent financial systems that allow the ministries of the church to thrive. This person should have a cooperative outlook, striving to balance accountability and controls with ministry enablement and creativity. The church is looking for someone whom God is gifted with a broad background of finance.

Responsibilities

Financial Operations:

- Manage the financial operations of the church and develop policies and procedures to address receipts and deposits, accounts payable, purchasing, payroll, cash management, accounting, contribution records, pension contributions and other miscellaneous expenditures
 - Manage staff members that work directly with financial matters including receivables and payables
 - Direct and oversee the financial operations of the church in coordination with the Executive Pastor and the Financial Stewardship Team
 - Develop and recommend financial objectives, policies and procedures to the Executive Pastor, Financial Stewardship Team, and Elders
 - Develop and maintain effective internal controls, including inventory controls
 - Develop and implement purchasing and spending guidelines
 - Create regular financial reports for appropriate Pastors and Ministers and lead in the annual preparation of the budget
 - Work with the appropriate teams in planning and promoting any church stewardship campaign and any capital campaign and provide any necessary reports
 - Have extensive knowledge of banking, loans, interest rates, FDIC, Treasury Bills
 - Build strong relationships with banking, brokerage firms, and lending institutions that the church may be working with
 - Work with outside auditors and the Financial Stewardship Team with respect to annual audit/review and any recommendations from the auditor

 Required Prerequisites for This Position

 - Be a strong communicator and problem solver with the ability to build trust within the organization
 - Understand the nature of church non-profit finances
 - Have at least ten years of financial administrative experience
 - Ability to keep confidential and sensitive information
 - Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office products and Quickbooks
 - Detail oriented
 - Strong organizational skills
 - A teachable heart that is willing to learn and improve in their position
