Words from our Seniors

How has Currey Creek developed your spiritual life?

  • Currey Creek has provided a place that has always felt like home and where I know I can trust people there. Youth group on Wednesday night pushed me to step out of my comfort zone and share deeper and more personal struggles with guys. The people at Currey Creek are really genuine in their faith and I know that they have my back. -Cole W.
  • Being under sound teaching and receiving the encouragement I have at Currey Creek has been incredible. It has been an amazing example of what to look for in a church. -David G.
  • I can remember the first time I attended Currey Creek and having Mrs. Langenbahn as my group leader, I think in 6th grade. She made me feel noticed and heard. Fast forward to now and every leader I’ve had has made me feel the same way. And they all challenged me to look critically at what it means to have a relationship with the Lord and help me from that transition from “parent’s faith” to my own faith. -Jayne G.
  • Currey Creek developed me to become a stronger Christian and even when times were tough, I learned to keep pushing and knew God would create something good out of it. -Joseph H.

Do you have a favorite Scripture?

  • I have several verses that I live by, however, John 16:33 in particular is one of my favorites because of so many unknowns in the future. It says, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” God tells us we will endure hardships, but He also tells us that He has overcome every single struggle and heartache, and we can rest in Him knowing that. No matter what is to come God is greater. -Katelynn S.

What encouragement would you pass on to other students?

  • Read your Bible. Don’t "find time" to spend with Jesus. MAKE TIME on a daily basis to spend with the Father. We aren't always going to want to read the Bible but we will always need to read the Bible. It is so much more than a book. It is a conviction, a lifestyle, a cornerstone to our walk as young men and women. -Sam L.

Favorite memory at Currey Creek?

  • I would have to say just the worship each night at Upstream on Wednesday night. There were multiple nights coming to youth where I would just feel in a funk or struggling with something, and the worship never failed to make me feel God’s presence. I would leave youth just feeling giddy and overwhelmed with the Spirit because of the worship. Whenever I needed encouragement, the worship team would play the perfect song that spoke directly to me in that moment. -Cole W.
