Curriculum Resources

This Fall Semester, our students will dive into Scripture and discover how God’s plan of redemption has unfolded from Genesis to Jesus. Their lives fit into His story today, and we invite parents to join the conversation at home, reinforce these truths, and help their students connect biblical truth to everyday life.

The Story of God Middle School

“The Story of God Series” will help our middle school students understand the story they’re living in. We’ll begin with the beginning of Scripture and explore who God is, why He made us, what went wrong, and how His plan of redemption begins to unfold. Our hope is that students will see their identity rooted in God’s story.

The Story of God Series Notes & Questions

August 19 - Created to Know and Love God 

  • Main Scripture: Genesis 1:1–28
  • Main Point: You were created by God to know him and love him with everything in you.

August 26 - Created to be Known and Loved

  • Main Scripture: Genesis 1:26–2:25; Psalm 139:1–4
  • Main Point: God created you for real, unhiding relationships with others and with himself.

September 2 - Created with Purpose

  • Main Scripture: Psalm 139:13–16; Genesis 1:26–28; Isaiah 43:6–7
  • Main Point: God created you intentionally to steward your life for his glory.

Main Scripture: Genesis 3

Main Point: Sin begins when we believe life would be better without God, and it drives us away from the God we were made for.

What We Talked About:

  1. Sin begins with a lie.
  2. Sin is more than breaking a rule—it is betrayal of God.
  3. Sin shows up in really ordinary parts of our lives.
  4. Sin leads us to hide, blame, and experience brokenness.
  5. We need to understand the depth of our sin in order to understand the beauty of grace.

Talk About It:

  • What do you remember about the pattern “God is withholding → I know what is good for me → I will take it myself”? Where do you see that kind of thinking show up in everyday life?
  • Why do you think our first instinct after doing something wrong is often to hide it, make excuses, or blame someone else? What happens when we do that?
  • Is there an area of sin in your own life that God may be bringing to the surface right now? What would it look like to stop hiding it and bring it honestly before God this week?

Main Scripture: Genesis 4:1–8

Main Point: Sin begins beneath the surface before it shows up in our actions.

What We Talked About:

  1. Cain and Abel show us that being around religious things is not the same as having faith.
  2. Sin starts within us.
  3. The decisive moment often comes before the moment everyone sees.
  4. Sin seeks to rule us.
  5. God meets Cain with a warning and a choice.
  6. Jesus changes the heart.

Talk About It:

  • What stood out to you most from the message about Cain and Abel?
  • Why do you think God asked Cain, “Why are you angry?” before Cain ever killed Abel?
  • When you don’t get what you want, what tends to happen in your heart? What would it look like to bring that honestly to God instead of letting sin rule you?

From Garden to Glory High School

In “The Garden to Glory” Series, our High Schoolers follow the story God has been unfolding since the beginning. Through the lives of key Old Testament characters, we’ll see how Scripture tells a unified story—one that has always pointed to Jesus and finds its fulfillment in Him.

Main Point: The Bible is one unified story of redemption that finds its fulfillment in Jesus.

Main Scripture: Genesis 1–3

Main Point: God created the world to dwell with his people and display his glory through them—and when humanity rejected his good design, God promised a Savior.

Main Scripture: Genesis 6–9

Main Point: A new beginning cannot give us a new heart. We need God himself to change our hearts through Jesus.

  3. God’s Promise and Humanity’s Repeated Rejection (Genesis 8:20-9:29)

  • How does knowing that our sin grieves God’s heart change the way you think about sin?
  • Where are you tempted to believe that changing your circumstances would fix what is going on inside of you?
  • What is the difference between asking God to change your circumstances and asking him to change your heart?

Main Point: Our standing with God rests on his faithfulness, not our performance.
