This Fall Semester, our students will dive into Scripture and discover how God’s plan of redemption has unfolded from Genesis to Jesus. Their lives fit into His story today, and we invite parents to join the conversation at home, reinforce these truths, and help their students connect biblical truth to everyday life.

The Story of God Middle School

“The Story of God Series” will help our middle school students understand the story they’re living in. We’ll begin with the beginning of Scripture and explore who God is, why He made us, what went wrong, and how His plan of redemption begins to unfold. Our hope is that students will see their identity rooted in God’s story.

The Story of God Series Notes & Questions

Main Scripture: Genesis 1:1–28

Main Point: You were created by God to know him and love him with everything in you.

What We Talked About:

  1. We understand the purpose of our lives by looking to the One who created us.
  2. God is the main character of the story, not us.
  3. You were created to know God.
  4. You were created to love God.
  5. The question is not simply whether you believe in God, but whether you actually know him.

Talk About It:

  • What do you remember from the message?
  • What do you think is the difference between knowing things about God and actually knowing God?
  • If you were really honest, what does your relationship with God feel like right now?
  • What is a way you could spend time actually knowing and loving him this week?

Main Scripture: Genesis 1:26–2:25; Psalm 139:1–4

Main Point: God created you for real, unhiding relationships with others and with himself.

What We Talked About:

  1. God made you for people.
  2. Real relationships require us to stop hiding.
  3. God himself knows you completely.
  4. The God who knows you also loves you.
  5. Jesus shows us what the love of the God who knows us looks like.

Talk About It:

  • Why do you think God says that it is “not good” for people to be alone? What makes a friendship feel like a relationship where you can really be known?
  • Psalm 139 says that God knows your thoughts, words, and everything about you. Does that idea feel comforting, uncomfortable, or maybe a little bit of both? Why?
  • Is there anything you tend to hide—from other people or from God—because you are afraid of what will happen if you are fully known? What would it look like to be more honest with God about that this week?

From Garden to Glory High School

In “The Garden to Glory” Series, our High Schoolers follow the story God has been unfolding since the beginning. Through the lives of key Old Testament characters, we’ll see how Scripture tells a unified story—one that has always pointed to Jesus and finds its fulfillment in Him.

Main Point: The Bible is one unified story of redemption that finds its fulfillment in Jesus.

What We Talked About:

  1. Jesus meets us in our hopelessness.
  2. Jesus points us to his Word.
  3. Jesus reveals himself as our hope.

Talk About It:

  • What do you remember most from the message?
  • Where in your life are you currently tempted to say, “I had hoped God would…”?
  • Why do you think Jesus pointed the disciples to Scripture instead of immediately revealing himself to them?
  • What would it look like this week to bring Jesus your disappointment and place your hope in Jesus rather than your expectations of him?

Main Point: God created the world to dwell with his people and display his glory through them—and when humanity rejected his good design, God promised a Savior.

  • What does it mean that you were created in the image of God?
